Loknete Madhukarrao Pichad (1941–2024) was a distinguished statesman who represented Akole in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for seven terms and served as Cabinet Minister for Tribal Development. A lifelong champion of rural upliftment, he founded the Akole Taluka Education Society to bring quality technical education to the youth of this region.
Madhukar Kashinath Pichad was an Indian politician, social worker, and Cabinet Minister in the Government of Maharashtra. He represented the Akole Assembly constituency in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for seven consecutive terms from 1980 to 2014, and served as Leader of the Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from March 1995 to July 1999.
Born on 1 June 1941 into a tribal family of the Mahadeo Koli community in Rajur, Ahmednagar district, he completed his B.A. LLB from Ferguson College, Pune, where he first became involved in student politics. He began his public career as a Zila Parishad Member and Chairman of Panchayat Samiti Akole Taluka in 1972.
A member of the Nationalist Congress Party for most of his career and later its Maharashtra President, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in 2019 along with his son, Vaibhav Pichad. Beyond politics, he founded the Amrutsagar Milk Co-operative in Akole in 1961 and served as founding president of the Agasti Sahakari Sugar Factory — India's first cooperative sugar factory, established in 1993.

Vaibhav Madhukar Pichad continues his family's legacy of public service, having represented Akole in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly and currently serving as National Minister of the BJP Scheduled Tribes Morcha. A key figure in the region's cooperative movement, he chairs the Amrutsagar Milk Co-Operative Union and remains deeply committed to advancing education and opportunity for the youth of Akole taluka.

Under his leadership, Akole Taluka Education Society is expanding modern education, technical learning and skill development opportunities for rural students.
His vision is to provide quality education, better placement, innovation and strong industry interaction while preserving the values on which the institution was founded.
